The Transit of Venus attracted great interest on June 8th. The Wessex Astronomical Society set up 6 locations in Dorset where members of the public could view the event safely. These pictures were taken at the Bournemouth location. The first is by bruce Longstaff and the rest by Alan Jefferis.

At the bottom of the page are two birthday cards I received this week from grandsons Jack, Barney and Oliver.

The following five images cover the "Second Contact", when Venus enters fully within the Sun's disc.

The next two images are taken at the approximate mid-point (0830 UT) and towards the end of the Transit (1032 UT). Venus left the Sun's disc from 1105 to 1124 UT
